NAVAJYOTHI CHARITABLE TRUST

About us

Navajyothi is a charitable Trust incorporated in the state of Kerala with an objective to support children and young adults with developmental disabilities. Navajyothi was started as a small private trust with limited membership in order to undertake a great vision of serving as many children with disabilities as possible. Navajyothi was the effort of a few committed people who try their best to change the world by dedicating their lives and changing the lives of people with disabilities who have been neglected for years by the society.
Navajyothi operates Navatheeram centers for children and young adults with mental retardation in Kerala. Navatheeram is vocational/supported employment program that supports our efforts to bring change in the lives of people with developmental disabilities in India.Navatheeram centers operate in the remotest villages of all districts in Kerala.
Navajyothi prepares children and young adults with mental retardation to productive employment and enhance their adaptive skills, address issues of lack of education, poor health, loss of rights and choice, abuse and neglect, and their financial instability. Navatheerams seek their independence and growth through empowerment projects to enable them to be true citizens of India.

Navatheerams are managed by trained staffs of Navajothi Trust. Contributions from the public are most welcome to support our projects. Navatheerams every day are inspired by the sweet memories of late Mathew Tharamuttom,a great social reformer, activist and leader of the underprivileged who lived in a tiny village called Kulappuram in Idukki district.
